My mother always left room in her large garden for plenty of flowers.  As a child I was allowed to help choose the varieties we planted and then help with the planting of the flowers. One of my favorite tasks as a child was to cut and arrange flowers to have on the table for our mealtimes. I believe that my artwork is a natural extension of that early love of the flower garden I developed growing up in a farming, Mennonite family.
